Bloomberg hires Garde to cover large drug companies

Bloomberg News has hired Damian Garde to cover large drug companies.

Garde was national biotech reporter for STAT News. He was part of a team that won a 2022 Polk Award for reporting about covert lobbying of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

He co-writes The Readout newsletter and co-hosts “The Readout LOUD” podcast.

Prior to joining STAT in 2016, he spent four years covering drug development at FierceBiotech, and previously wrote for Patch.com and the Albuquerque Journal.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
