Barron’s hires Carmel as managing editor

Barron’s editor in chief David Cho sent out the following on Thursday:

We’re thrilled to announce Abby Carmel is joining Barron’s as a managing editor to head a new investing club initiative. She’ll be based in the New York office.

Abby joins us from Seeking Alpha, where she started out as an editor 18 years ago, working with contributors to turn their investment ideas and blog posts into articles. She eventually became the vice president of content, managing teams that produced daily news and podcasts, quarterly transcripts, online newsletters and community chats.

Abby loves to find ways to help people become better investors, connecting the dots among stock ideas, market action and investor sentiment. She joins Barron’s to invest that passion into building and launching the new initiative.

With seven grown children between them and two pet labs, Abby and her husband recently relocated from Israel to PA(Poconos), where they’re enjoying the nature (the cold a bit less so) and tranquility.

Abby is a pilates instructor, with a specialty in promoting bone growth for maturing populations (osteoporosis), and loves to hike, cook and read.
