Washington Post hires Hays as news designer

The following excerpt announcement was sent out from The Washington Post’s creative director Greg Manifold, deputy design director Brian Gross and deputy design director Amy Cavenaile:

We are excited to announce that Stephanie Hays will be joining the Design Department as a news designer Stephanie comes to The Post from the Seattle Times, where she handled design for A1, metro, opinions and features, including 12 special sections each year. She worked with editors, illustrators and photo to create visual concepts and cohesive packages, covering such themes as the pandemic and its impact on the arts scene.

She also collaborated with video, photo and graphics on interactive ideas.

She previously worked for the Sacramento Business Journal, where she also had experience with social media design. She graduated from Elon University in 2018 with a degree in Communication Design and minors in Mathematics and Art.

Please join us in welcoming Stephanie. Her first day is March 14.
