Jenna Pirog has joined The Washington Post as deputy editor of strategic initiatives. She will be working with the Lede Lab on new ways to incorporate emerging technologies, including 5G, augmented reality and artificial intelligence, into the newsroom.
She will also act as a liaison to advertising and lead ambitious newsroom initiatives in collaboration with the publication’s revenue and technology teams.
Pirog joins from National Geographic Partners, where she was the senior director of video and immersive experiences, leading an editorial team of producers, designers and editors working across a variety of mediums.
She was also The New York Times’ first virtual reality editor, where she produced 15 immersive projects.
She was also an editorial consultant and producer for National Geographic magazine, National Geographic Creative, Michael Nichols Photography, LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph, Airbnb, The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Magnum Photos, National Parks Conservation Association, The New York Times Magazine, and others.
Pirog has also worked as an editorial director at Storehouse Media Inc.
Pirog is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
