Martin Austermuhle, a web and radio reporter covering local affairs, politics, education, transportation and crime for Washington’s NPR station WAMU-FM 88.5, is set to leave after more than 10 years.
Austermuhle wrote on Twitter:
“A brief interruption for the dreaded personal news tweet: Late next month I’ll be leaving @wamu885/@DCist, where I’ve had the amazing honor of being a local reporter for more than a decade.”
He contributed to Washington City Paper and The Washington Diplomat. He also served as editor-in-chief of DCist.com.
He is an award-winning journalist having received three regional Murrow awards.
Austermuhle has a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and a master’s degree from Georgetown University.
