David Waldstein, who has worked for more than a decade on the New York Times sports desk, has joined Metro as a feature and enterprise writer. His move comes in the wake of the Times dissolving its sports desk after handing over all such coverage to The Athletic.
In his new role, Waldstein will focus on the culture, economy and characters of the region’s sporting scene.
While working on the sports desk, he has covered baseball, tennis, hockey, college basketball, the Paralympics and Scrabble.
