The New Republic has tapped Adrienne Mahsa Varkiani to serve as an editor on its newly launched breaking news desk The Ticker, which will cover major political stories.
Recently, Varkiani served as deputy editor, breaking news and before that was a temporary editor. She covered U.S. politics and world news as a freelancer for Slate, Teen Vogue and Mic.
She held the posts of associate editor and senior editor at ThinkProgress.
Varkiani has a bachelor’s degree from American University and a master’s degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
