Michael McCarter has taken on the role of VP, group editor/opinion editor at Gannett | USA Today Network. Recently, he served as managing editor for opinions, standards, ethics and inclusion.
McCarter also served as interim editor in chief. He was executive editor of the Evansville Courier & Press, and worked at Enquirer Media for more than 11 years.
There, he held the posts of photo editor, newsroom finance coordinator, director of visuals, interim executive editor and senior news director. He also worked at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
McCarter graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi.
