Jeff Goodman joins The Messenger as Senior Insider, Basketball. Goodman has covered basketball for the last two decades at all three levels – NBA, college, and high school. He has worked for ESPN, CBSSports, and FOXSports and most recently spent five years at ESPN as a multi-platform basketball insider – on SportsCenter, doing sideline for games, features, 1-on-1 sit-downs, and also establishing himself as the pre-eminent news-breaker in college basketball. Goodman joined Stadium in 2018.

Seth Davis also joins The Messenger as Senior Insider, Basketball. Davis is an award-winning sports writer, broadcaster, and best-selling author. Since 2004, Davis has been a mainstay of studio coverage of college basketball and the NCAA Tournament for CBS Sports and Warner Brother Discovery Sports. Davis wrote for The Athletic for six years and Sports Illustrated for 22 years. He is the author of nine books, including the New York Times best sellers Wooden: A Coach’s Life, When March Went Mad, The Game that Transformed Basketball, and his most recent book, Wake Up With Purpose! What I’ve Learned During My First Hundred Years, which he co-authored with Sister Jean. Davis has served as president of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and, in April 2023, was inducted into the USBWA’s Hall of Fame.

“We continue to build an all-star editorial leadership team under the leadership of Dan Wakeford,” said Jimmy Finkelstein, Founder and CEO, The Messenger. “The launch of our much-anticipated sports vertical further adds to The Messenger’s indispensable reporting across politics, business, entertainment, and general news and unlocks tremendous opportunity across the organization.”

Dan Wakeford, Editor-in-Chief, The Messenger, added, “We have a newsroom of immensely talented journalists, and today, as we unveil our sports vertical, I am thrilled that the impact of our work continues to reach new audiences.”
