Texas Monthly has welcomed Allegra Hobbs as senior news and politics editor and Owen Schwartzbard as senior video producer.
In her new role, Hobbs will work with senior editor Ben Rowen to assign and edit digital-first stories and a monthly print column about news and politics.
Recently, she served as managing editor of The Big Bend Sentinel in Texas. She also reported for DNAinfo and The Brooklyn Paper. She freelanced for The New York Times, Vice, Village Voice and the New York Magazine, where she also interned.
Hobbs has a B.A. from Pepperdine University in California.

As a senior video producer, Schwartzbard will focus on editorial video projects and will support Texas Country reporters and TM Studio projects when required.
He worked for more than six years at Merit Productions in Texas as a video producer and editor, and then senior producer. He freelanced as a video director and producer for more than five years.
Schwartzbard graduated from Chapman University in California.
