Kaitlyn Jakola has joined the Chicago Sun-Times as editorial director for strategy and operations. Recently, she was a managing editor at nonprofit news outlet The Trace.
Jakola taught at New York University and served as managing editor at Gizmodo. She also held the post of assistant managing editor at Insider. She worked as a copy editor, senior copy editor and copy chief at Mic.
She freelanced, interned at Mashable and was a research assistant at Chicago Magazine.
Jakola graduated from Northwestern University, where she was editor in chief of the student paper, The Daily Northwestern.
