The Omaha World-Herald, part of Lee Enterprises, has appointed Rachel Stassen-Berger its executive editor. She will begin on Jan. 15.
Stassen-Berger commented:
“I am honored and thrilled with the opportunity to lead The World-Herald’s newsroom, which has a rich legacy and a vibrant future. Together with The World-Herald’s talented journalists, I will work to deliver distinctive journalism and deeply connect with the people of Omaha and across Nebraska.”
In her new role, she will also direct news strategy for eight other Lee-owned Nebraska publications.
Previously, Stassen-Berger was at The Des Moines Register, where she held the posts of politics editor and managing editor.
She also served as Capitol bureau chief at the St. Paul Pioneer Press for 11 years, holding the posts of Minneapolis bureau reporter and Capitol bureau reporter.
She also worked as a politics reporter at the Star Tribune in Minneapolis.
