Regional publisher News Movement appoints Hutson UK head of news

Rebecca Hutson

The News Movement has hired Rebecca Hutson as UK head of news.

The appointment comes after National World bought a $1.25 million stake in TNM, a social media-first title launched last year with offices in London and New York. Under this partnership, TNM journalists will produce news content for National World websites.

Hutson said:

“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining The News Movement at such a key moment in their journey. The team has achieved incredible results in such a short time and I look forward to helping them build audiences, tell great stories and do news differently.

“At a time when news avoidance is a growing and worrying trend, and how young audiences consume news continues to change, TNM is a truly pioneering and disruptive business that is facing those challenges head on.

“With my experience in both established newsrooms and start-ups, I’m looking forward to supporting the team to achieve all its ambitions – and more – in the new year.”
