Politico appoints Bowers CTO

Jeremy Bowers

POLITICO today announced that Jeremy Bowers has been named Chief Technology Officer, a newly expanded global role which will now have oversight over all technology operations in the U.S. and Europe. Jeremy will be responsible for enhancing and implementing POLITICO’s global technology strategy, building the strength of the IT organization, and leading day-to-day technology execution for the company as it continues to grow globally.

Bowers brings more than 15 years of technology leadership experience at news organizations, including the Washington Post, The New York Times, NPR, and the St. Petersburg Times.

“I am excited to join the relentless crew at POLITICO to help shape and grow a dynamic business while empowering the dedicated and high-powered newsroom,” said Jeremy Bowers. “Engineering will be a mission critical function of POLITICO’s future and I cannot wait to imagine and build what comes next with such an incredible team.”

Bowers comes to POLITICO from The Washington Post where he served as the organization’s Director of Engineering.

Prior to The Washington Post, he held various roles at The New York Times where he abstracted, built and maintained tooling for core reporting functions. Bowers entire career has been dedicated to supporting journalism, he additionally held engineering positions at NPR and The St. Petersburg Times.

Bowers shares a Pulitzer Prize as one of the core developers behind PolitiFact.com and received an Emmy for his work on “Planet Money Makes a T-Shirt”.

His first day at POLITICO will be on April 11.
