The Courier Journal in Louisville has appointed Natalie Pierre as a sports director. She was a sports editor at The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C.
Previously, Pierre was deputy sports editor for McClatchy Southeast, leading college sports coverage. Over the past 15 years, she covered some of college football’s most successful programs, led basketball coverage and reported on NCAA business, policies and legislation.
She worked as a culture, diversity and inclusion reporter at The State Journal-Register in Illinois and wrote for Alabama publications including the Birmingham News, Huntsville Times, Mobile’s Press-Register and AL.com.
She was a Florida State football reporter at the Tallahassee Democrat and a video journalist at USA Today.
Pierre has a B.A. from Delta State University in Cleveland, Miss. and a master’s degree from Syracuse University.
