Christopher Maag will join The New York Times’ Metro desk from The Record in northern New Jersey, where he has worked for more than nine years.

During his time with The Record, Maag held the posts of metro reporter, transportation reporter and senior enterprise reporter.

At the Times, Maag will “take on sharp enterprise across a variety of subject areas, jump on big breaking news and mine for narrative stories that bring our region’s vivid characters to life. He will help readers see things they never expected to see,” reports the Times.

Previously, he freelanced for The New York Times, Fortune, Time, HuffPost, Scientific American and Popular Mechanics.

He was also a staff writer at Scene Magazine and Columbus Monthly Magazine.
