NY Times appoints Seoul-based Stanford deputy editor, Home team

Chris Stanford has joined The New York Times Home team as its first deputy editor in Seoul. The Times reports:

“In this role, Chris will oversee international programming of The Times’s digital report, help manage a global team, set department standards and use our platforms to build relationships with readers.

“Chris’s remit is to make sure that the international home screen maintains a global focus and stories are framed for readers outside the United States and Canada. He’ll also work with audience editors to develop a strategy for keeping international audiences engaged and returning to our site.”

Since joining the Times in October 2013, Stanford has worked as a producer for the home page and mobile app, wrote the Morning Briefing and edited on the Express desk.

In 14-plus years at The Washington Post, Stanford held the posts of assistant news editor, senior news producer and multiplatform editor.

He also held editorial roles at the Orlando Sentinel and The Augusta Chronicle.

Stanford graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in journalism.
