Former journalist Brian Aitken is returning to journalism with the launch of a new online newspaper “The QT” for the North East.
The new publication will launch in the New Year and will have a core team of six journalists and freelance contributors.
“The QT” will cover regional affairs, including business, politics, devolution, health, the environment, education and inequality.
Aitken said:
“We are at a hugely exciting time for The QT. Our website is nearly ready, we moved into our office last week and we are recruiting for two more writers.
“The QT will not have obtrusive ads, pop-ups or clickbait headlines so that’s why there will be a price to pay to access our content. But we have no qualms about asking people to pay for quality journalism and our market research says there are enough people in the North East who will do so to make The QT a viable product.”
Monthly subscription will be £7.99, with an annual subscription available for £79.99 (about $100 US).
