Isabella Kwai has joined The New York Times London bureau as a breaking news reporter covering the European continent, the Middle East, Africa, the United Kingdom and, when needed, the United States.
Kwai joins the London bureau from Sydney where she helped set up a new bureau with bureau chief Damien Cave.
Cave said:
“That spirit of relentless curiosity has been a driving force for her for a while. I look forward to seeing her deconstruct the British psyche from the perspective of an Australian who knows how to have fun and poke and prod what others might overlook.”
Prior to joining the Times, Kwai was a media fellow at Atlantic Media. She has also worked as a columnist at Duke Chronicle.
She was also an editorial assistant at Quarto Publishing. There, she worked with the editorial team to collaborate on the production of books that are distributed globally, researched market trends and compiled synopses used in pitching book ideas to clients and major printing presses among other tasks.
Kwai is a B.A. in public policy analysis from Duke University.
