Irish Times hires McDonald as assistant news editor

Karl McDonald

Karl McDonald has joined The Irish Times as an assistant news editor. McDonald was at The i Paper, where he recently served as acting foreign editor.

Before that, McDonald held the posts of digital associate editor and deputy national editor. He was a production journalist at The Independent and worked freelance. He contributed to and was deputy editor of Totally Dublin.

McDonald has a B.A. from Trinity College Dublin.
