Longtime Idaho Mountain Express journalist and former Editor-in-Chief Greg Foley has returned to the lead editing role, after Editor-in-Chief Mark Dee left the newspaper in November to pursue other opportunities.
Foley has worked for the Express since 2002, in roles that include reporter, assistant editor, columnist, web editor and editor-in-chief. After serving in the top newsroom post for approximately 13 years, Foley left the position in early 2020 for personal reasons and took on a reporting and consulting role.
Dee was hired by the newspaper in 2017 and served as an award-winning reporter before taking over as editor-in-chief in 2020. He guided the newspaper through the challenging years of the COVID-19 pandemic while also earning the Express numerous awards for excellence, on both the state and national levels.
To work with Foley, the Express has hired Montana State University graduate Gabe Barnard as deputy editor. Barnard is the former editor-in-chief of the Montana State Exponent, the university’s student newspaper.
