Tommy Hamzik, deputy director of audience at the Houston Chronicle, is set to depart. He wrote on X/Twitter:
“The past 4.5 years with HC/Hearst have truly been a dream come true. I’m grateful for the chance to learn from and work with so many talented journalists, and am immensely proud of all we accomplished.”
Previously, Hamzik held the posts of newsletter editor, newsletter and audience data editor and audience growth editor. He also worked at the San Antonio Express-News as a newsletters editor.
His resume includes stints as a digital editor at Lee Enterprises-owned Virginia paper The Roanoke Times, and as a sports correspondent at North Carolina paper The Burlington Times-News.
Hamzik has a B.A. in journalism from Elon University in North Carolina, where he was editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, The Pendulum.
