Guardian US promotes Pengelly to breaking news editor

The Guardian US has promoted Martin Pengelly to breaking news editor.

Recently, he held the post of breaking news and weekend editor.

Pengelly joined The Guardian in 2004 as sub-editor for the paper and website. He then served as a weekend editor for Guardian US. He is also co-founder of Sidford House in New York, a specialist media production company.

He has also held editorial roles at The Independent and The Times.

Pengelly has a B.A. from Durham University and a M.A. from Birkbeck, University of London.
