Gillian Flaccus, an urban affairs reporter/video journalist at The Associated Press, has been promoted to assistant news director for the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and Hawaii.
Flaccus joined in 2000 as an Oregon bureau reporter covering general assignment, environmental and business news. She also covered faith, diversity and demographics from the Los Angeles bureau and served as Orange County supervisory correspondent.
She also held the posts of text reporter, video journalist and producer.
Previously, Flaccus covered K-12 and higher education in Beaufort County and Jasper County, S.C. for McClatchy Newspapers.
She was part of AP’s Future Leaders program in 2015.
Flaccus graduated from Amherst College.
