E.W. Scripps will launch Scripps News on Jan. 1, which combines the company’s Newsy network, its Local Media national desk and its Washington Bureau into one organization.
Steve Turnham has been named Washington bureau chief. Turnham will lead the network’s politics and investigative reporting and impact initiatives. Previously, he served as managing editor of Newsy. He has worked at CNN, ABC News, Al Jazeera and The Washington Post. Turnham graduated from the University of Southampton.
Ethan Nelson has been appointed head of Court TV, which covers live courts, while featuring in-depth legal reporting and expert analysis of the nation’s most important and compelling trials. Nelson, who held this post on an interim basis since January 2022, will lead the on-air presentation and daily operations. He will be responsible for program development, business development and long-form production for the Scripps News Division. Previously, he worked at Hulu, ABC News, Al Jazeera and CBS. Nelson has a B.A. from the University of Vermont.
