The Chronicle of Philanthropy has named Elbert Ventura its next editor-in-chief.
For nearly 35 years, the Chronicle of Philanthropy was owned by the Chronicle of Higher Education until the former became an independent nonprofit.
Ventura brings more than 15 years of experience covering the social sector and public policy to the newsroom. He joins from Vox.com, where he served as editor and editorial director. There, he also helped launch “Future Perfect,” a section dedicated to the world’s most consequential and under-covered problems and solutions.
He was also managing editor of Democracy: A Journal of Ideas and worked as an associate editor at The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Ventura has a B.A. from Brown University and an M.A. from George Washington University.
