Chow named editor of NY Times’ “The Daily”

The New York Times has appointed Lisa Chow, a veteran audio journalist who has produced, hosted and edited high-impact podcasts for years as editor of “The Daily,” which has four million listeners who turn to it every weekday to understand and engage with the most important issues of the moment.

In her new role, Chow will focus on leading the newsroom’s efforts to continue to grow the show and to build even closer ties between NYT Audio and the rest of the newsroom. She will also be responsible for “The Daily’s” editorial and management decisions.

Chow joined the Times from Gimlet Media where she was a host and reported, produced, and edited a documentary-style, serialized podcast focused on entrepreneurial life. During her time there, she was also a recipient of a Gerald Loeb Award.

She has also worked as a senior editor at FiveThirtyEight and was a correspondent, Planet Money, at NPR. She was also an economics reporter at WNYC Radio and has served as an assistant editor, Morning Edition at NPR.

Chow is a B.A. in applied mathematics from Brown University and a M.A. in international political economy and U.S. foreign policy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University. She was also selected as a George A. Wiegers Fellow and Knight-Bagehot Fellow in economics and business journalism, which covered the complete tuition fee for her M.B.A.
