Brandon Carter has joined The Washington Post’s social team as an assignment editor.
As per the Post:
“Brandon will lead our Instagram team, which curates our @washingtonpost, @coveringpolitics and @postclimate accounts, and focus on optimizing Post journalism for one of our fastest-growing audiences off-platform. He will also work to launch new accounts and collaborate with editors across the newsroom to bring the work we are doing on Instagram back to our owned and operated surfaces.’
Carter joins from NPR, where he was an assistant producer and then associate producer for social media and politics.
There, he also launched what became an 11,000-plus-member Facebook group for fans of “The NPR Politics Podcast.”
Previously, Carter was a social media curator at The Hill.
Carter graduated from Western Kentucky University, where he was editor in chief of the student paper, the College Heights Herald.
