Canedy named ME at The Guardian U.S.

Dana Canedy

The Guardian U.S. has tapped Dana Canedy to serve as its managing editor. She begins on April 24.

An excerpt from the announcement reads:

“At the Guardian, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist will ensure the smooth running of news operations across a wide range of functions and ensure the continued advancement of the Guardian’s editorial mission in the American market.”

Commenting on her appointment, Canedy said:

“I am honored to join the Guardian US and stand alongside the talented journalists and staff who work to provide US news to readers here and abroad. I have long admired the Guardian’s values, and look forward to building on its reputation for fearless, independent journalism.”

Recently, she was the publisher of Simon & Schuster. She is also a founding board member of the nonprofit trade association Digital Diversity Network.

She worked as an administrator at The Pulitzer Prizes, where she oversaw all aspects of the Pulitzer Prizes, including serving as a board member and being the official spokesperson for the organization.

Additionally, she worked at The New York Times for 22 years.

Canedy has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky.
