Butcher joins the Evening Standard as social editor

The Evening Standard has hired Sophie Butcher as a social editor. She joins from The Economist, where she recently served as a contributing writer.

There, Butcher also held the posts of social media fellow and audience editor. She worked as a writer and then served as editor-in-chief Edinburgh at The Tab.

Butcher has an M.A. from the University of Edinburgh.
