Jeffrey Bloomer has been named editorial director at Slate.
Bloomer has been at the online magazine for 12 years in various roles, including producer, associate editor, senior editor and features editor.
An internal memo states, “Jeff’s sensibility and sense of Slateiness has a huge impact across all of our work, and it’s time to adjust his title to reflect all the very important things he does. He’s brilliant at assigning and editing, unparalleled when it comes to packaging, driven to make all of our work hit with our readers, a delightful colleague and terrific at coming up with ideas for the business side to take out in the world.”
Bloomer previously was a writer and fact checker at Paste magazine.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
