Benitez most recently worked as a reporter and host at America TV for almost 10 years.
He also did a brief stint as a producer for the Univision Network weekly program Crónicas de Sábado, canceled in early 2020.
Benitez, who has his own YouTube news channel with over 230,000 subscribers, started his broadcast career in his native Cuba.
