Patrick Elligett, a news director at the Australian publication The Age, has been appointed its new editor.
Tory Maguire, executive editor of The Age said:
“The Age is in good hands. Patrick demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of reader trends and the challenges it presents. I’m very confident that his plan is the right one to steer The Age through the next few years of economic uncertainty, shifting habits and demographic change.”
Previously, Elligett held the world editor post for The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.
He also served as editor in chief of The New Daily, the national news publication in Melbourne. He formerly served as deputy editor and director of news.
