AP’s Kennedy to join NY Times as White House editor

All,

I’m thrilled to announce that Elizabeth Kennedy, a longtime editor and reporter at in Washington and in capitals across the Middle East, Asia and Africa, will be our new White House editor.

For the past three and a half years, Elizabeth has been The A.P.’s deputy Washington bureau chief, where she worked closely with the White House and congressional teams. Since 2019 she has also been A.P.’s deputy international editor in Washington, where she worked with reporters in the bureau and around the world on international news.

Before Washington, Elizabeth ran A.P. bureaus in Bangkok, New Delhi, Beirut and Nairobi. Before that she was an editor for The A.P. in New York, where she worked with reporters and news editors around the country on a wide array of topics. She got her start in The A.P.’s New Jersey bureau.

She starts April 12, and will be working with our terrific White House team: Peter Baker, Zolan Kanno-Youngs, Annie Karni, Katie Rogers, David Sanger, Mike Shear and Jim Tankersley.
