12NewsNow has hired a new Daybreak co-anchor and a Sports Director.
Tia Johnson on Oct. 9 started as the new weekday co-anchor for 12News’ Daybreak show. She also will share anchor duties for 12News Midday at 11:00 a.m. and will be an investigative journalist. After obtaining her degree from Prairie View A&M University, Johnson started her career in Lufkin at KTRE, then went on to work in Green Bay, Wisconsin at WBAY where she received recognition’s from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association in 2020. Most recently, she served as a reporter/anchor for FOX4 News in Kansas City, Missouri.
Brandon Roddy on Oct. 20 started as the new Sports Director at 12News Now, appearing on the 6 p.m. broadcast and the 10:15 p.m. 409SportsBlitz. Hailing from Peoria, Illinois, Roddy has “family connections” in San Antonio, where he worked at KENS5 news for 12 years, according to a news release from 12NewsNow. Roddy told The Enterprise that he started working at KENS5 as an assistant and worked his way up to sports reporter before deciding to leave the station after becoming “burnt out” during the COVID-19 pandemic.
