The New York Times has promoted Jacob Meschke to the post of editor, digital storytelling and training on the newsroom development and support team.
In his new role, Meschke will focus on audience projects, collaborating with senior editor, digital storytelling, Renan Borelli and partnering with the audience team, while continuing to contribute to data training with Lindsey Cook, who leads data training.
Meschke joined The Times in 2019 as a news assistant and since then has served as a news assistant, audience and newsroom development.
Prior to joining The Times, Meschke was at Hearst Magazines, where he joined as an editorial fellow, and then served as a contributing writer. He has also edited and produced articles for Forbes Finds, the e-commerce affiliate marketing service of Forbes.
He was also a corporate communications intern at Rotary International, where he supported the corporate communications team, as well as occasionally colleagues in other areas. He also managed social media and web content, and produced content.
He was also a reporter, International Desk, at Perfil.com.
Additionally, he has also served as a reporter at Buenos Aires Times and Deadline Detroit. He was also a production assistant at Michigan Radio.
He has also held numerous roles at North by Northwestern, a daily online news magazine at Northwestern University, including working as a staff writer, assistant photo editor, associate editor, senior features editor and managing editor.
Meschke was also a research assistant at Northwestern University’s Medill School and a reporter at Medill News Service.
Meschke is a B.S. in journalism from Northwestern University.
