CNN has appointed Rachel Smolkin senior VP of global news at CNN Digital, overseeing the global news teams, including breaking news, U.S., politics, EMEA and APAC.
She recently served as VP of news, CNN Digital, overseeing the politics, national and breaking news teams and coverage across global digital platforms. She also built and led CNN’s new cross-platform climate beat.
Previously, she has also served as VP and executive editor for CNN Politics and executive editor for CNN Politics.
She has held editorial roles at Politico, USA Today and American Journalism Review and has also reported for Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Toledo Blade and Scripps Howard News Service.
