Jared Hohlt

The following excerpt was sent out from The New York Times’ Hanya Yanagihara, T Magazine editor-in-chief :

I’m delighted to announce two staff changes. The first is that Jared Hohlt will be joining us as editorial director.

Over the years, he’s edited features, packages, investigations and profiles on everything from architecture, fashion, the Supreme Court and gun violence, to the national elections, design, theater criticism and art at Metropolis, New York magazine, and Slate, where he was most recently editor in chief.

Jared is finishing up a couple of gigs now and then taking some time off — he won’t be joining us until July 11. When he does, he’ll be top editing, working with all the text editors (on both print and, especially, digital), helping to conceive of special issues, improving text and processes and managing.

Kurt Soller

The second announcement is that Kurt Soller has been promoted to deputy editor.

He has championed diversity in both subject and in writers, and I’ve watched him mentor, cheerlead and instruct them in sometimes multiple rounds of edits.

Kurt will be running the Greats issue from here on out — helping to organize it and making sure we all stay on track, editorially — and will be overseeing celebrity wrangling, which means he’ll be coordinating our outreach efforts and helping any editor who wants to learn how to do it. He’ll also be overseeing selected digital project.
