The Los Angeles Times has promoted Cindy Chang to deputy editor and Maria La Ganga to city editor for the California section. As the announcement reads, “These moves will help Metro’s excellent editing corps become even more nimble, collaborative and fast-acting.”
Recently, Chang served as assistant city editor. Prior to joining the Times in 2012 as a staff writer, she worked at the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Previously, she interned at the Los Angeles Times. Chang has a B.A. from Yale University.
La Ganga joined The Times in 1981 as an academic intern. She also held the posts of Seattle bureau chief and San Francisco bureau chief. She edited the Business section and covered six presidential elections, including one for the Guardian.
Recently, she was an assistant editor in Metro. La Ganga has shared in two Pulitzer Prizes and is a graduate of Cal State Northridge.
