A belated Happy Independence Day to our TBN readers. This week’s ticker brings to you our editor and publisher Lou Carlozo’s special Bankadelic podcast. Dow Jones has struck a deal with Italin business news service 24 ORE Group to provide business news and financial information to the Italian and international markets. Read on about Gizmodo’s “oops” moment with AI!

Bankadelic’s Week of July 4th special… Talking Biz News editor and publisher Lou Carlozo brings to you a special Independence Day episode of the Bankadelic podcast, where seven financial services stars discuss a variety of topics that riff on the themes of “finance freedom” and “a more perfect union.” “It’s an engaging, wide-ranging chat that embraces topics from artificial intelligence to customer engagement and much, much more,” Carlozo wrote. Catch it here.

Dow Jones and Italy’s 24 ORE Group strike deal… Dow Jones Newswires and 24 ORE Group have agreed to a multi-year deal to provide business news and financial information to the Italian and international markets. Dow Jones Radiocor Newswire will offer real-time news stories in Italian from Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor and news and analysis from Dow Jones Newswires translated from English to Italian. “We are proud to partner with Il Sole 24 Ore to support financial professionals and retail investors in Italy and beyond,” said Joe Cappitelli, general manager of Dow Jones Newswires, in a statement. “Together, we will provide a formidable offering of news, data and analysis to help our customers navigate the rapidly changing economic landscape.”

Gizmodo’s AI tussle: Say Sorry? Really? … Gizmodo posted a story about “Star Wars” movies on Wednesday generated by artificial intelligence that contained multiple errors, reports Todd Spangler of Variety. Per Spangler’s piece: “’As you may have seen today, an AI-generated article appeared on io9,’ James Whitbrook, deputy editor at io9 and Gizmodo, tweeted about the situation. ‘I was informed approximately 10 minutes beforehand, and no one at io9 played a part in its editing or publication. The article published on io9 today rejects the very standards this team holds itself to on a daily basis as critics and as reporters. It is shoddily written, it is riddled with basic errors; in closing the comments section off, it denies our readers, the lifeblood of this network, the chance to publicly hold us accountable, and to call this work exactly what it is: embarrassing, unpublishable, disrespectful of both the audience and the people who work here, and a blow to our authority and integrity.’” Ah, but the real question is: Will they try it again? “I don’t see the AI-written stories trend ever reversing itself,” says TBN Editor and Publisher Lou Carlozo. “Apologies aside, will Gizmodo simply repeat and cross fingers? I see that as a matter of ‘when.'” Read more here.
