Skift has tapped Dawit Habtemariam as a global tourism reporter.
He joins from Senior Executive, a media company in New York, where he was a staff writer.
In a note to the staff, Skift editor in chief Tom Lowry wrote, “One thing I learned during the interview process with Dawit is that he is not afraid of data so we are looking forward to having him leverage that enthusiasm for us. In fact, right out of college, Dawit was a data impact fellow with the Mayor’s Office of New York City, where he helped integrate metrics and statistics from 40 socio-economic fact datasets that were later published on the mayor’s website.”
He formerly served as a staff writer, assistant editor and then as associate editor at Business Travel News. He also developed key articles for corporate clients as a writer at Buchwald & Associates in New York.
Habtemariam has a B.A. in economics from Haverford College.
