Fortune editor in chief Alyson Shontell sent out the following to the staff on Friday:

All,

Fortune has spent the past few months preparing for a big year of growth in 2022.

With that has come some promotions, hires and new roles.

As discussed in the newsroom meeting this morning, we have made 16 hires since December, from fellowships to senior leadership positions. We are rebuilding teams, like social and news, deepening others, like Fortune Education, and launching new initiatives, like Fortune Success Group.

We have more to go. If you know people who could be great for Fortune, please send them our way.

Editorial Divisions – Who’s leading them and what they do

Features: Helmed by Brian O’Keefe, Kristen Bellstrom and Matt Heimer, this team is dedicated to producing both a gorgeous, high-impact magazine as well as a steady stream of timely digital-first features. They will have a dedicated team of reporters and freelancers, but also float across all our desks to collaborate on feature opportunities with everyone.

News: Helmed by Nick Lichtenberg, Fortune is now a 24/7 global operation. Eamon Barret is leading the news charge in Hong Kong, where he will pass off to Massimo Marioni, our Europe News Editor who starts at the end of February. Massimo’s team will pass the baton to Azure Gilman in NY, where her team will toss to Verne Kopytoff, our CA News Editor, and the cycle will repeat. We’ll also be hiring a weekend editor and reporter.

Success: Helmed by Lindsey Stanberry, this group will focus on evergreen coverage areas ranging from next gen leaders and management advice to personal finance and beyond. Lindsey is also building out our new contributors desk and other extensions.

Beat Reporting: Lee Clifford is overseeing two of our beat reporting teams, investing and finance. Ruth Umoh is overseeing our leadership coverage, getting inside the minds of c-suite and boards of the Fortune 500. We are hiring a crypto editor and a tech editor and building those verticals out too.

Audience and Social: Ashley Lutz, Cheyann Harris, Mahnoor Khan and Carmela Chirinos-Vasquez are building up readership for Fortune stories on our site, social platforms, and external sites.

Video: Mason Cohn, Megan Arnold, Chris Joslin and team are continuing to build out our video offerings, from on site to big editorial packages to social.

Maia Samuel is joining our leadership team from Reuters to oversee all special projects produced by the Fortune newsroom, including packages sponsors are excited about across all our platforms, from the site to our magazine and conferences.

Newsroom strategy and management: Rachel Lobdell will continue to oversee the relationship between edit and product — including work on our dashboards and team goals, as well as editorial management, newsletters and strategic growth and operations. She will be hiring a managing editor to help us develop consistent newsroom training programs, build out a robust internship program, and recruit diverse talent.

Very excited to build this next chapter of Fortune with all of you.

Alyson
