The Yahoo Finance Senior Markets Reporter is focused on helping our readers stay informed on the most important stories moving markets on a day-to-day basis.
Responsibilities:
- Lead coverage every day on the biggest stories moving markets, every day the market is open.
- Coverage will include corporate earnings, economic data releases, and other reports or announcements moving markets.
- Help shape and guide overall markets coverage and strategy at Yahoo Finance.
- Work closely with markets editors to test, innovate, and refine story selection, structure, and tone.
- Contribute to the Yahoo Finance Morning Brief, our flagship morning newsletter.
- Use and cultivate industry sources to bring exclusive stories to Yahoo Finance’s audience.
- Appear on Yahoo Finance live shows to discuss your stories or other news of the day as needed.
- Bring an authoritative voice to Yahoo Finance’s newsroom and the financial media industry at large on the biggest topics in markets and business.
A Lot About You:
- Experience covering or working in financial markets.
- Expert understanding of financial market and industry jargon.
- Strong knowledge of key economic data releases and earnings calendar.
- Fluency in digesting and interpreting economic data and corporate earnings reports.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong news judgment and an ability to work and think quickly.
- A proven track record of success in a fast-paced newsroom or similarly competitive environment.
- Experience in multi-media settings- Television, Radio, Podcasting, etc.
- Experience hosting or contributing to live events (i.e. panel discussions).
- Passionate about business and financial markets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of SEO best practices.
- Experience working with multiple content management systems or other editorial tools.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience covering or working in financial markets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills.
- B. A. or equivalent work experience.
- Use and knowledge of Twitter and other social media platforms the financial industry engages with frequently.
