WSJ seeks senior video reporter

The WSJ senior video teporter is responsible for reporting, writing and hosting studio news programming, on-camera field reporting and video packaging.

Skill set should include:

  • impeccable journalistic instincts and integrity
  • ability to quickly identify, comprehend and explain news stories
  • strong news writing skills and writing for broadcast video
  • demonstrable experience in front of the camera both in-studio and/or on-location
  • working knowledge and interest in a wide range of topics and genres including domestic politics, international issues, business, life and culture, markets, economics, health, technology, sports and more
  • ability to thrive in a deadline focused environment
  • minimum 5 years+ experience in news, online, print and/or broadcast outlet
  • preference will be given to candidates with a background in political news coverage and conversant on subjects ranging from national politics, government and public policy issues
  • ability to shoot and edit a plus

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
