The Wall Street Journal is looking for an entrepreneurial reporter to cover the most entrepreneurial of beats: The Africa business story.
The newly-created position would be based in Nairobi, an ideal perch for tracking corporate trends on the continent. Kenya has become a hub for multinationals seeking to tap into Africa’s rich resources and an emerging consumer class. It’s also home to a flourishing technology scene, dubbed Silicon Savannah, which is spawning scores of mobile technology startups.
The role would have a significant digital focus and provide an opportunity to build an audience among individuals, companies and funds investing in Africa — both from within the continent and from the U.S., Europe, China, India and elsewhere.
Like China and India before, the Africa business story is a new frontier. The reporter will join a small group who explain the unfamiliar terrain to our global readers, and demonstrate daily why we are essential reading in Africa as well.
Please submit your CV and covering letters along with some recent clips.
