You will be in charge of making sure our growing newsletter operation runs smoothly, and will also serve as a back-up writer for some of our biggest newsletters.
Newsletters are a key area of growth for the WSJ and you will be part of a team that guides their expansion and continued success. You will become the go-to expert in our newsletter content management system, project manage the launch of new newsletters, and develop documentation and best practices for newsletters.
You should have excellent journalistic instincts, production and logistical knowhow, and the ability to get things done. We value collaboration, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit.
You will be part of the New Formats team, which develops novel approaches to bring our journalism to new readers and deepen our relationship with our existing audience. You will work closely with reporters and editors across the newsroom as well as the WSJ’s product, engineering, data and commercial departments.
The position will initially be remote but eventually based in our New York City office.
You will:
-Project manage and produce special-edition newsletters, email courses and other new newsletter projects
-Train newsroom colleagues on how to use, and manage access to, our newsletter CMS, and provide ongoing support and help with troubleshooting
-Provide back-up/holiday writing cover for the Journal’s flagship newsletters.
-Help monitor and respond to reader emails
-Create, refine and expand newsletter documentation, how-tos and info sheets
-Liaise with the Newsletter and Alerts product team
You have:
-Strong writing and editing skills and at least two years of journalism experience
-Aptitude in learning new software and teaching it to others, particularly content management systems
-Excellent communication and organizational skills, to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines
-A track record of being a team player
