The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced editor to lead its newsletters team. You will be in charge of a broad portfolio of newsletters that inform and delight millions of readers.
Newsletters are a key area of growth for the Journal and you will be part of a team that guides their expansion and continued success. You will oversee our flagship 10-Point and Notes on the News newsletters, and provide guidance and support to the writers and producers of our other newsletters.
Within the newsroom, you will be an authority on newsletters: best practices, workflow and performance data. Beyond the newsroom, you will be the liaison for Product and Commercial colleagues developing the business and technology behind newsletters.
We are looking for someone with excellent journalistic instincts, production and logistical knowhow, and the ability to think strategically about newsletters as a product. We value collaboration, creativity and an entrepreneurial spirit.
You will be part of the New Formats team, which develops novel approaches to bring our journalism to new readers and deepen our relationship with our existing audience. You will work closely with reporters and editors across the newsroom as well as the Journal’s product, engineering, data and commercial departments.
The position will be based in our New York City office and report to Robin Kwong, New Formats Editor.
You will:

- Edit and produce the 10-Point and Notes on the News, and provide newsletter production and editing support as needed
- Work with other senior stakeholders to set editorial and product strategy for newsletters
- Coordinate newsletter schedules and ensure sufficient holiday coverage
- Train editors and producers on our newsletter content management system
- Document and evangelize newsletter processes and best practices
- Manage a small team of newsletter writers and producers
You have:
- Superb news judgment; a strong journalistic foundation as a reporter or editor
- An appreciation for The Wall Street Journal brand and its core coverage areas
- A demonstrated understanding of strategies to grow and engage audiences via email or other formats
- A passion for experimentation and a facility for data
- Strong communication and presentation skills
