He or she is the main reporter responsible for covering Chancellor Angela Merkel, the government, and any political, policy or macro-economic issue in Germany, as well as directing coverage of these issues by other reporters.
The reporter works closely and frequently with Wall Street Journal colleagues around Europe and the world, as well as Germany bureau colleagues in Berlin and Frankfurt.
This is a position that would suit an experienced reporter with several years spent covering politics. Fluency in German is required.
