As deputy editor, you’ll be charged with conceiving and executing Wirecutter Money’s editorial strategy and dramatically growing readership. You’ll lead coverage planning and content conception with zeal and creativity, top edit pieces with flair, and work closely with our audience team to make sure as many people as possible benefit from Wirecutter Money.
As deputy editor, you will sit on Wirecutter’s editorial leadership team and report directly to Wirecutter’s editor-in-chief.
Who are we looking for?
We are a startup within a startup within a big company. For that reason, we’re looking for a strong communicator and a scrappy problem-solver. You should be an ambitious and creative leader with big ideas, a willingness to roll up your sleeves, and great management skills to play a definitive role in shaping Wirecutter’s future success.
The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience as a creative editorial leader at a major digital publication—ideally, but not necessarily, in the personal finance space. You should have strong journalistic instincts, a reader-focused mentality, a familiarity with search engine optimization (and other audience development best practices), and a deep rolodex of freelance writers in the space. You should be a true believer in Wirecutter Money’s mission, and be bursting with enthusiasm and creative ideas for innovative and compelling ways we can serve our growing audience.
Who are we?
The company’s purpose: We help people buy the right things for the way they want to live. Through rigorous testing, research, reporting, and whatever means necessary, we create straightforward recommendations that save readers from unnecessary stress, time, and effort. We then monetize these recommendations by enabling our readers to easily purchase the products they are interested in through our affiliate partnerships.
