The Lily, The Washington Post’s vertical dedicated to stories central to women, has an opening for a deputy editor.

In this role, you will oversee day-to-day operations and work with staff reporters on both quick-turn news and longer pieces. The ideal candidate will have an eye for what makes a good story, and the ability to spot issues and anticipate trends that are of interest to women in the United States and internationally.

You will also be responsible for creating daily story budgets and working with other newsroom departments to ensure The Lily complements existing coverage done by The Post. The ability to cultivate a strong network of reliable contributors is requisite.

Candidates must be able to work on stories across platforms, including but not limited to thelily.com, the Lily Lines newsletter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat Discover. Previous management experience is a plus.

This position is based in the Washington newsroom.

Once normal work is resumed, the position will not be eligible for remote work. Candidates should upload a resume and cover letter outlining your vision for the role to the jobs portal by September 25.  The cover letter should be addressed to Neema Roshania Patel, Coleen O’Lear and Tracy Grant.
